Discover the exciting world of creative coding with Scratch Junior! This introductory course is designed for young learners aged 4-7 to explore the fundamentals of programming and computer science in a fun and interactive way. Through hands-on activities, engaging projects, and storytelling, students will build their problem-solving skills while creating their own interactive stories and games. No prior coding experience is required, making this course the perfect starting point for young minds eager to explore the possibilities of technology and creativity. Curriculum Notes

Junior Coding with Scratch Junior - Levels 1-5

Coding takes practice. NextGen SmartyPants's curriculum keeps things fresh and introduces kids to new and cool ways to practice, create, and code with Scratch Junior!

Our Junior Coding curriculum proceeds in five levels:

  1. Intro to Scratch Junior
  2. Story-telling - Playground Games We Play
  3. Interactive Cartoon Animations
  4. Making Interactive Mazes
  5. Video Game Design

Students are grouped together by experience and grade level. All students new to Scratch Junior receive NextGen's Intro to Scratch Junior set of lesson plans.  Teachers conduct an assessment of student experience on the first day. Students are grouped according into one of the higher levels in the curriculum.
